Login to Hotmail, or more accurately, Microsoft Hotmail, is or was a free web-based email service owned, controlled, and administered by Microsoft as part of the Windows Live suite. I say was because this service is no longer available as Hotmail, but rather as Outlook.com, which is a new and improved version of the old Hotmail.com.

Hotmail was one of the original webmail services and has always been one of the best, which is why it has so many users worldwide; in fact, as of 2012, it was the world’s second largest webmail service, trailing only Gmail, which has around 360 million users.

Hotmail was also popular because to its unlimited storage, Ajax-based interface, Windows Live Messenger integration, calendar, SkyDrive file hosting service, and well-known contacts platform. As part of the “Wave 3” update, the service added POP3 connectivity to all Hotmail accounts, allowing users to use Hotmail from any email client.

Even though Hotmail.com has been renamed Outlook.com, new users can still create email addresses with the Hotmail.com domain. When filling out the registration form, simply select @hotmail.com from the drop down list when asked “how would you like to sign in?”

1. Navigate to Hotmail’s login page at www.Hotmail.com.

2. Fill out the first field of the access form, which is located on the right side of the screen, with your email address.

3. In the second area, enter your Hotmail.com login password.

4. Now, at the bottom of the page, click the blue “Sign In” button, and you’re in!

Instructions for Resetting Your Hotmail Password

If you forgot or forgotten your password, simply return to Hotmail’s login page. login page and click the blue “Can’t Access Your Account?” link placed underneath the sign in button.

Now, in the first field box, enter your email address, also known as your Microsoft Account name, then enter the characters in the second field box, click “next,” and follow the instructions to reset your password.
